It's a tough job, but Us Weekly has done it: We've looked back over the last 20 years and ranked the 20 most beloved characters! Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) made the list, as did Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and his baddie predecessors Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini).

LIST: 20 MOST BELOVED TV CHARACTERS!

Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) earned her way onto our list, too. After all, who can fault a woman whom 30 Rock's Jack (Alec Baldwin) declared to be a "New York third-wave feminist, college-educated, single-and-pretending-to-be-happy-about-it, over-scheduled, undersexed, buy any magazine that says 'healthy body image' on the cover [woman who] every two years [takes] up knitting for…a week." For the cult TV fans, we didn't forget the goodness that was The O.C., E.R., Friday Night Lights, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. However, you'll have to check out the list to see which characters made the cut and exactly where on the list they landed.
