#FriendshipGoals. Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay continued their awards season streak of adorable moments together at the 2016 Oscars on Sunday, February 28, where the Room leading lady, 26, was nominated for best actress.
When her name was read on the list of nominees — which also included Cate Blanchett, Saoirse Ronan, Jennifer Lawrence and Charlotte Rampling — Larson turned to look at Tremblay, 9, in the row behind her, and stuck out her hand for a covert high-five.
Upon winning the Academy Award, she hugged her boyfriend, Alex Greenwald, before leaning down to embrace her young costar. He stood cheering as she took the stage to accept her golden statuette.
“I want to start big, because the thing that I love about moviemaking is the amount of people it takes to make it,” she began, before acknowledging the Toronto International Film Festival and the Telluride Film Festival for screening the movie.
Of Tremblay, who played her son in the harrowing film, she gushed that he was her “partner through this in every way possible.”
Larson — a first-time nominee and winner — has been on something of a winning streak since the Golden Globe Awards in January. And each time she takes the stage, she gives a sweet shout-out to her costar. Tremblay, meanwhile, has said they’re “best friends.”
