Want to drink like a movie star at your viewing party? You’ll definitely win the Oscar with these six delicious cocktails inspired by the 88th Annual Academy Awards, which will air on Sunday, February 28, on ABC at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Crabbie’s Moscow Mule
This drink is surprisingly complex, like Mad Max: Fury Road, but so incredibly delicious.
3 mint leaves
3/4 oz lime juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
1 1/2 oz vodka
Crabbie’s Original Alcoholic Ginger Beer
Muddle the mint gently in the bottom of your glass. Add the lime juice, simple syrup and vodka, along with 3 or 4 ice cubes. Add a splash of Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer.
This recipe, created by Justin Timberlake’s personal Sauza 901 mixologist, Eddy Buckingham, will make you feel like a Hollywood star winning their first Oscar.
2 oz Sauza 901
1 oz Orange Curacao
1 oz fresh lemon juice
1/4 oz agave nectar
1 dash Angostura Orange Bitters
Combine all ingredients except the orange peel in a mixing glass with ice. Shake well for 10 seconds. Strain and pour into a martini glass. Garnish with a twisted orange peel.
The mixture of gin, sherry and rum packs a punch and matches the intensity of the film.
1 1/2 oz Plymouth Gin
1/2 oz Oloroso Sherry
1/2 oz Demerara Rum
Dash of Whiskey Barrel–aged bitters
Rock candy swizzle stick
Stir all ingredients except swizzle stick in ice. Strain over a large ice cube and garnish with a rock candy swizzle stick.
The Old Hollywood
Get ready for your speech, because this cocktail is a winner.
1 oz Amaro Lucano
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
2 oz San Pellegrino Limonata
Bisol Jeio Prosecco
2 lemon wheels
Mix Lucano, lemon juice and San Pellegrino. Pour into wine glass, fill with ice, top with prosecco and garnish with lemon wheels.
The Martian: Cherry Bourbon Smash
Puns about smashing into Mars aside, it only seems fitting to pair an “out of this world” drink with this movie.
2–3 maraschino cherries
1/2 oz lemon juice
1 1/2 oz bourbon
In the base of a cocktail shaker, muddle maraschino cherries, lemon juice and bourbon. Add ice and shake until cold. Strain into a rocks glass. Top with ice and Dr Pepper.
Room: French Martini
Brie Larson needs something that can match her fierce character in strength and poise, and this concoction just about does the trick.
1 1/2 oz vodka
1/4 oz Chambord black raspberry liqueur
1/4 oz pineapple juice
1 twisted lemon peel
Pour ingredients except lemon peel into shaker with ice, and shake vigorously for 5 to 10 seconds. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with lemon peel.
