Paris Bennett Rates Fave American Idol Performances

Paris Bennett came in fifth place on the fifth season of American Idol (Taylor Hicks took the crown that year). Since then, she welcomed daughter Egypt, now 18 months old and released two albums (2007's Prince P and 2008's A Royal Christmas). She currently performs in the Minneapolis production of Rent.

Tuesday night was an overall good night, I think, on American Idol. There were some really great song choices: Anita Baker, Gladys Knight, India Arie. I love all of the artists the contestants chose.

My favorite performance of the night was between Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox. They both brought so much originality to the table with their very own complete style.

Michael Lynche's "Ready For Love" was another good performance — and I'm not being biased because I listen to that song all the time! It was nice to see him play the guitar and give us another visual of him as an artist.

I can't leave Tim Urban out. He was so cute! Lol. "Sweet Love" is great song and he brought the point across pretty well.

To me, the judges were pretty dead on — not too harsh, but just honest. I loved Ellen [DeGeneres]' comment about staying "current" because that was a critique I got a lot from judges. It made sense for last night's performances.
