At last, the day Brian Williams and millions of other Americans have been waiting for has arrived. Peter Pan Live! was broadcast on NBC on Thursday, Dec. 4, trending on Twitter for all three (yes three) hours it was on.
And though the hate-watchers were out in force — you know who you are — Allison Williams, Christopher Walken, and company managed to pull off the daunting task of a live, on-television musical, flying and all!
Missed out on the show or simply didn’t want to sit through all three hours of Christopher Walken in face paint? Us Weekly has rounded up the top 5 best moments in videos, GIFs, and Vines!
1. Cock-a-Doodle-Dooooo!
So this happened… #PeterPanLive #watchwithUs https://t.co/kMvrkNOjfa
— Us Weekly (@usweekly) December 5, 2014
Allison Williams — as the title character, of course — came crowing onto our small screens with razzamatazz and a little pizzazz. Doing Peter’s chicken-legged “cock-a-doodle-doo” while singing the song “I’ve Gotta Crow,” with delightful matching noises, she immediately informed us that the night was not going to be boring.
2. Peter, Wendy, John, and Michael Fly to Neverland
They’re flying! Really flying! Well, at least they’re attached to wires and in the air. When Peter, Wendy (Taylor Louderman), John (Jake Lucas), and Michael (John Allyn) first leapt into the air via pixie dust (leaving poor Nana the dog behind), Peter Pan Live! finally picked up from its rather dull beginnings. Flying out the window and over Big Ben, the Darling family and Pan reminded us of why we love J.M. Barrie’s fairy tale.
3. Captain Hook Tap Dances
Heeeerrreee’s Hook! Though Christopher Walken’s performance as Captain Hook solicited mixed reviews online, there was no denying that homeboy can tap dance. With his panted face and disturbingly pointy eyebrows, a very chilled out Walken bounced around the deck of his ship and into tomorrow’s memes.
4. The Ticking Croc
NBC squeezed an actual human being into a purple crocodile suit. That poor soul then waddled onto shore in possibly the greatest 10 seconds of the entire show.
5. Peter Pan, the Lost Avenger
Thought Iron Man and Thor were the greatest Avengers? Think again! When Captain Hook had Wendy and the Lost Boys at his mercy, Peter swooped in declaring, “There’s one [that can save you]! Peter Pan, the Avenger!” What followed was an awkward sword fight, but this is the moment we will always remember.
