Pitch perfect, indeed! One day before Independence Day on Friday, July 4, Pitch Perfect 2 director Elizabeth Banks took to Facebook and Twitter to share a video of stars Skylar Astin and Ben Platt paying tribute to America with a gorgeous a cappella rendition of a classic patriotic song.
The video features Astin and Platt harmonizing on "America the Beautiful," with a large American flag hanging on the wall behind them. Both are wearing burgundy velvet blazers and jeans. "Skylar Astin, Ben Platt, and the entire Pitch Perfect 2 cast would like to wish you a very happy 4th of July," the caption on the video reads.
Banks, 40, posted the video to multiple social media accounts, calling the actors "amazingly talented." On Facebook, she added, "Happy (early) 4th of July from the set of Pitch Perfect 2!"
The Pitch Perfect sequel—due out in 2015—reunites Astin and Platt with several of their costars from the original movie, including Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, and Anna Camp. Banks, who appeared in the first film as a cappella commentator Gail, is making her feature film directorial debut with the flick.
