Maybe Ricky Gervais is forgiven after all?
After the British comic was slammed by many for his razor-sharp barbs against A-listers while hosting the Golden Globes, many assumed he wouldn't be welcomed back.
Not so, Gervais wrote in a column for Heat magazine (posted on his website). "The ratings went up again, and the organizers asked me to consider a third year," wrote Gervais.
During his opening monologue at the Jan. 16 bash, Gervais made merciless jokes about Charlie Sheen, Angelina Jolie, Ashton Kutcher, celeb scientologists John Travolta and Tom Cruise, Sex and the City's aging cast of actresses and others.
Gervais isn't sure he should emcee again. "I don't think I should," he wrote. "I don't know what I could do better!"
He defended his controversial barbs, too: "I did exactly what I went to do…The response was staggering…The weird thing is the question is always, 'Did Ricky go too far?' And the answer is always, 'No.' I have yet to find anyone who was actually offended by [my jokes]."
