Reboots are all the rage right now, and one of the most highly anticipated ones of 2026 was Scary Movie.
The sixth entry in the long-running comedy franchise, Scary Movie (don’t call it Scary Movie 6!) brought back OG stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall, as well as the Wayans brothers, to serve up another much-needed skewering of the horror movie genre and pop culture in general.
The film was a big hit, grossing over $230 million worldwide since its June theatrical release, so it’s only natural that some fans started to wonder when the reboot would be available to stream at home.
Watch With Us has all the details on when Scary Movie will debut on streaming, where you can watch it, and whether it’s worth your time.
When Is ‘Scary Movie’ Streaming?
Scary Movie will begin streaming on September 3. That date is perfect, as it gives everyone plenty of time to watch before spooky season kicks into high gear.

Where Is ‘Scary Movie’ Streaming?
Scary Movie will stream exclusively on Paramount+. The streamer typically streams all Paramount-released films first before licensing them to other platforms, like Prime Video and HBO Max.
What Is ‘Scary Movie’ About?
Scary Movie essentially rips off the main plots of 2022’s Scream and 2018’s Halloween. When teens Tuesday (Savannah Lee Nassif) and Sara Campbell (Olivia Rose Keegan) are attacked by Ghostface, they ask their reclusive mother, Cindy (Faris), for help. But Cindy correctly assumes the serial killer is attacking her kids to get to her and refuses to intervene. When Ghostface starts attacking other teens, including Brenda Meeks’ (Hall) kids, Cindy reunites with her old best friend to stop the mass murderer once and for all.

What Is ‘Scary Movie’s’ Rotten Tomatoes Score?
Scary Movie’s Rotten Tomatoes critics score is a low 24 percent. The Popcornmeter (the cumulative audience rating) is a lot better at 65 percent.
It’s good to keep in mind that the Scary Movie comedies have never scored well with critics. The original has the highest score at 52 percent, which still makes it technically “rotten.” Hey, at least the ‘26 version beats Scary Movie 5’s rating, which has a shockingly low score of only 5 percent.
Is ‘Scary Movie’ Worth Watching?
If you’re a fan of the franchise or love dumb parodies, then yes. If you’re looking for a future comedy classic like Bridesmaids, look elsewhere. Scary Movie is wildly inconsistent and frequently dumb, but for every lame joke that doesn’t hit, there’s a better gag that does. It’s the same approach that made some of the best films in the series (1 and 3 are my favorites) so watchable, if not exactly good cinema. It’s always nice to see Faris and Hall back together, and they give Scary Movie a wild comic energy that makes the whole endeavor worth watching – but just barely.
