Steven Avery to Appear on ‘Dr. Phil,’ Wants Brad Pitt to Play Him in a Movie

His side of the story. Steven Avery, the subject of Netflix’s Making a Murderer, is speaking out in a new special with Dr. Phil McGraw. It is the first time that the convicted murderer, 54, has spoken out in a broadcast interview.

Avery called his fiancée, Las Vegas legal secretary Lynn Hartman, from prison for the segment, according to a press release. As previously reported, the couple recently got engaged after eight months of knowing each other. They met face-to-face for the first time last week.

Avery hopes that the same will happen for him — and that Brad Pitt will someday play him in a movie about his life. He told McGraw: “The truth is coming out, and sooner or later all the truth will come out.”
