Taylor Swift opened up about her penchant for incorporating immense detail into her hit songs.
“It’s, kind of, been brought to my attention — and I agree with this — that I love to use detail in my lyricism,” Swift, 36, said during an interview on American Country Countdown that aired the Saturday, September 5. “That’s true [and] I’m very proud of that, but I also think one thing I always make sure to check myself on is, ‘Does this detail signify something that informs the story or does it tell the narrator the mindset is in or what place they’re in?’”
According to Swift, she tries to make sure her lyrics perfectly describe the setting or characters’ emotions to help further the narrative on the track.
“Detail just for the sake of saying descriptive words is not really my thing,” she said. “I love detail if it informs the actual human emotion that we’re singing about.”
Elsewhere on the radio show, Swift revealed the biggest lessons she’s learned from making music.
“Your energy and attitude that you bring into the room affects absolutely everything about the day,” the Grammy winner stated. “So, really trying to be accountable to knowing that enthusiasm for the actual craft … can make or break the session. Like, if you come in and act like you don’t want to be there, everyone else is going to pick up on that. It doesn’t matter if you’re an artist, writer or engineer; everyone’s gonna pick up on you not wanting to be there. These are very intuitive people who want to make art, [so] it could make it so no one can make anything that day if you’re acting like [you’re] dragged in there.”
Swift’s appearance on the radio show comes two months after she and Travis Kelce tied the knot. The couple exchanged vows in front of 1,000 of their closest friends and loved ones at Madison Square Garden in New York City in July.
Since their wedding day, Swift and Kelce, 36, have remained tight-lipped about details of the event. However, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end gave fans a little glimpse into their special day.
“At this point, we’re what, over a month out? It’s been so much fun,” Travis said during the Wednesday, September 2, episode of his “New Heights” podcast with brother Jason Kelce. “First of all, the night was a night we’ll never forget. Me and Taylor are so thankful for everybody that showed up, you know, from the vows to just seeing everyone to how much fun we had throughout the entire evening, and hearing that kind of be relayed through everybody’s stories of the night.”
Travis also explained why he and his bride chose the iconic arena as the venue for their “magical” evening.
“Thank you [to] everyone at MSG that allowed us to do this,” he said. “We wanted to do it somewhere where we could have a very intimate and genuine setting without a lot of distractions. We needed it to be a private feel. And MSG went above and beyond to give us that. I can’t thank everybody enough that showed up but also that helped put the show on, and it was a very magical, magical night.”
Not only have Swift and Travis made headlines about their wedding but also for the newest addition to their family: a dog named Wendy. (Swift is also a cat mom to three felines: Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button.)
Wendy, who is a fluffy white Samoyed, made her debut in a photo shoot for Tommy Hilfiger alongside her dog dad. According to Vogue, the Hilfiger creative team talked about casting a pup for the campaign and Travis ultimately volunteered Wendy for the job.
“We figured, why not her? She crushed it and actually really fit into that Tommy aesthetic, too,” he gushed to the outlet on September 1. “Those are some of my favorite shots.”
