Hannah Waddingham didn’t hold back when addressing rumors of a feud between her and Ted Lasso costar Jason Sudeikis.

“For the first time ever I am finding it necessary to silence the utter bollocks being written about a ‘rift’ between me and my beloved, long-standing friend and acting partner Jason Sudeikis,” Waddingham, 51, wrote in a since-expired Instagram Story, according to Entertainment Tonight.

She added: “Ridiculous, clickbait buuuuuulllls***! Is it a quiet news day or something?! Get a life!!!”

Waddingham used the opportunity to promote season 4 of Ted Lasso, which premieres on August 5, writing, “Ps. Season 4 Ted Lasso on @appleTV is gonna be a dooooozyyyy, as our mustachioed companion would say. See you all up Nelson Road! Long live AFC Richmond!”

The hit Apple TV series, which premiered in 2020, follows an American football coach who moves across the pond to take over a scrappy British soccer team. Fans previously questioned whether the series was over after the planned three-season arc wrapped in 2023.

“This story is done,” creator Sudeikis, 50, claimed on the “Fly on the Wall” podcast at the time. “It sounds like such a political answer, but it’s the truth. We only conceived these three [seasons], then this thing became this big old thing.”

Sudeikis mentioned that the Ted Lasso team had “thought about” potential spinoffs after seeing the demand for more episodes.

“Whether it’s [a book], whether it’s doing podcasts about the episodes to offer those audio commentaries … just to talk through things and the themes,” he shared. “And also it would explain the show in a much more cerebral way than I ever would have been able to explain it to anybody. Yeah, there’s opportunities, I think, for spinoffs.”

Sudeikis later surprised fans in March 2025 by revealing on the “New Heights” podcast that season 4 was officially being written. Apple TV announced that summer that the cast reunited in Kansas City to start filming.

Before the show’s return to Apple TV, Waddingham made headlines when she revealed to Variety last month that she had an “ongoing love-hate relationship” with Sudeikis because of his frequent Ted Lasso rewrites.

“There’s always going to be a bit of give and take within a scene, because of the nature of how Sudeikis works,” she told the outlet. “He hears it in the room, and then we tweak. With that boy, you’ve got to roll with the punches. He and I have an ongoing love-hate relationship that he changes it last minute.”

Waddingham also showed support for the show’s decision to keep her onscreen relationship with Sudeikis platonic.

“I love that we buck against the norm,” she said of Ted and her character, Rebecca. “They are undoubtedly soulmates, but that can mean a myriad of things.”
