Some amendments will definitely need to be made in the Relationship Agreement if Amy and Sheldon are finally going to “engage in coitus”! That’s right, after years of dating and avoiding almost all physical contact, our Shelly is going to have sex.
Following a Tuesday, Nov. 17, taping of the Dec. 17 episode of the hit CBS comedy, executive producer Steve Molaro released a statement about the “Shamy” relationship plot line.
“After over five years of dating, we felt the time was right for Sheldon and Amy to finally consummate their relationship, and we’re so excited for the audience to see the journey over the next several episodes,” Molaro said of the story line for Season 9.
Both characters are virgins. The episode will also feature recurring guest star Bob Newhart and will seemingly have a Star Wars theme.
Perhaps the pair will have some makeup sex after spending the first half of this season split up. In a heartbreaking moment in the Season 8 finale, Sheldon reveals he had purchased Amy an engagement ring before she called things off with the theoretical physicist.
No word on the status of the other Big Bang Theory couples, but Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) seem to be navigating married life well…for now. And Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Howard (Simon Helberg) are trying to make his late mother’s house their home while contemplating having a child of their own.
