The Social Network Dominates Weekend Box Office

Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake are about to get a lot more friend requests.

According to Exhibitor Relations, The Social Network debuted at No. 1 with an estimated $23 million in its opening weekend. The film bested Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole ($11 million) and Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps ($10.5 million) for the top spot.

The film, based on Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg's rise to internet fame, marks Timberlake's second No. 1 movie; Shrek The Third debuted with $121 million in 2007.

Prior to signing on to play Napster founder Sean Parker in The Social Network, Timberlake admitted he was initially hesitant to take on the role.

"That scared the s–t out of me," the actor, 29, tells the new issue of Us Weekly. "This movie's dense. There's a lot there. It would take me all night to sort of go through what we talked about, about what this character is."

Rounding out the weekend's top grossing films are Ben Affleck's The Town ($10 million) and Emma Stone's Easy A ($6.5 million).
