The Way Home’s Sadie Laflamme-Snow Suggests Spinoff Between Fan-Favorite Couple Nick and Alice (Exclusive)

The Way Home is coming to an end but Sadie Laflamme-Snow already has spinoff ideas — including one about age-gap couple Nick and Alice.

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly before the show’s return on Saturday, April 18, Laflamme-Snow, 26, noted there were unanswered questions between her character, Alice, and former love interest Nick.

“I feel like people — myself included — are very drawn to the Nick and Alice story line,” she said. “I’m not suggesting something crazy with the age difference. But I feel like back to the 90s — that first summer — would be so cute.”

The Way Home, which premiered in 2023, introduced three generations of women in the Landry family who stumble onto a pond on their land that allows them to time travel. Alice was the first one to make the discovery, which led to her going back in time when her mother, Kat (Chyler Leigh), was her age. That paved the way for Alice to find love with teen Kat (Alex Hook) and teen Elliot’s (David Webster) childhood friend, Nick (Samuel Braun).

“I feel like people are still holding on to the Nick and Alice love story,” she noted. “I would be satisfied with that. But I feel like we’ve done what we were meant to do so that there aren’t any missing pieces for me at this point.”

Laflamme-Snow previously spoke to Us about how The Way Home could make Nick a part of Alice’s future. “Kerry James — who plays Nick — is so much fun to work with,” she shared in January 2025. “It’s funny to see them just sort of pretend that they don’t know each other but also be forced in a small town to constantly bump into each other. It was handled beautifully.”

Her costars Chyler Leigh and Evan Williams, meanwhile, highlighted how The Way Home was able to address an age gap romance “without making it even weirder” for the audience.

“One of the things that this feels most holistic about the show is that thematically we’re always investigating this question of, ‘Is it better to try to change the past or change our relationship to the past?’ That allows us to exist in the present in the future,” Williams, 41, told Us. “We see the audience and all of the characters — in their own ways — grappling with that question.”

He continued: “Obviously, there are things that the heart wants but we’re also watching the characters navigate that. One of the most realistic things about the show is we see the characters not necessarily always get what they think they want.”

Looking ahead, the trio spoke with Us ahead of the show’s fourth and final season about what to expect.

“One never knows,” Leigh, 44, who plays Kat, shared about how the series will wrap up. “Our show creators, Heather Conkie, Alexandra Clark and Marly Reed, [did their best] to be able to tie up as much as we could within that limited scope. I don’t know how they do it.”

Laflamme-Snow agreed while telling Us that the creators are “so intentional and in tune with what the audience is excited about.”

“The thing about The Way Home that’s so special is it is made with a lot of care,” she noted. “There’s no part of us that wants to leave anyone left hanging, and that’s gone into every decision and everything that we’ve done this season.”

The Way Home’s fourth and final season premieres on Hallmark Channel Sunday, April 19, at 9 p.m. ET.
