Trista Sutter is trading roses for home renovations! ABC’s inaugural Bachelorette and her husband, Ryan Sutter, have signed on to cohost HGTV’s newest renovation show, Rocky Mountain Reno, and only Us Weekly has exclusive details about the show’s May 31 premiere.
On the first episode, co-hosts Trista, 42, and hunky firefighter Ryan, 40, help parents-to-be Rachel and Dave Segerdahl narrow their ideal home down from three properties before fully renovating it to suit the family’s unique needs. As Trista told Us Weekly, her husband — who earned an architecture degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder — couldn’t be more hands-on during the makeovers.
“He’s a true Colorado mountain man, which is part of the reason why I love him. He’s literally chopping down trees!” Trista explained. “We’re so excited to show people a side of us they haven’t seen before. It’ll be fun for people to see Ryan’s personality shine.”
While their show follows the traditional home makeover show model of choosing from a pool of properties, Trista told Us that Rocky Mountain Reno really shines once the renovation begins. “We want to focus on what people would come to Colorado for,” said Trista, who raises son Max and daughter Blakesley with her 2003 Bachelorette pick. “People come here wanting to start a family. As a mom, I wouldn’t want to raise my kids anywhere else — it’s such a beautiful community with lots of support.”
After their series premieres on May 31, Trista and Ryan Sutter hope their project will become a permanent fixture on the network lineup. “We’re so grateful to be able to showcase what we’ve worked so hard on for the last few months, and we’d love to become a permanent part of the HGTV family,” the Bachelorette said.
