The Furious 7 cast and crew are getting ready to pay tribute to their costar and “brother” Paul Walker. When the franchise’s latest installment hits theaters April 3, it’ll feature a touching end scene commemorating the life and career of Walker, and costar Tyrese Gibson says the scene is “the most beautiful thing you’ll ever see.”
Screening the film for an audience at the recent South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Gibson, 36, told HuffPost Live that moviegoers definitely need to stay glued to their seats until the end credits roll. “The tribute at the end is the most beautiful thing you’ll ever see,” the actor said. “All the things you love about Fast & Furious are in there, but this tribute is so touching — and necessary. The fans are really going to appreciate it.”
In the months following Walker’s untimely 2013 death at age 40 after a high-speed crash, Walker’s family was quick to urge the cast to finish F7 production. In fact, Walker’s look-alike brothers Cody and Caleb stepped in to film scenes as Brian O’Conner with Gibson, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and their late brother’s other costars.
“Our first instinct was to quit and let it go, but when his family said they were in support of us finishing the movie, we made everything about [Paul],” Gibson said. “We finished it for our brother, and now it’s about celebrating his life.”
Earlier this week, F7 costar Diesel helped celebrate his friend’s legacy when announcing that he named his newborn daughter Pauline after Walker.
