What a girl wants is to be left alone, apparently. Valerie Bertinelli was thrilled to see Christina Aguilera backstage at a Van Halen concert several years ago, but Aguilera wasn't thrilled to see her. The "Your Body" singer, 33, reportedly gave Bertinelli, 54, the big brush-off — at least according to a story the Hot in Cleveland actress told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live this past Wednesday, Nov. 5.
"Valerie, it's said that you had a feud with Christina Aguilera," Cohen began. "What was that about?"
"I didn't have a feud with her," Bertinelli clarified. "I was a fan at that time — a long time ago — and I went up to her 'cause she was at a Van Halen concert, and I said, 'Oh my god, I think you're a beautiful singer.' And she just went like, 'Yeah, whatever.'"
The One Day at a Time alum — who was married to Van Halen frontman Eddie Van Halen from 1981 to 2007 — went on to say she was put off by the pop diva's chilly reception. "She gave me the cold shoulder," Bertinelli recalled, "and I thought, 'Bitch, I'm a fan. You can't be nice to me?'"
She noted that she hadn't had any contact with the Voice coach since their first meeting, telling Cohen, "She might have gotten better. But I heard she hasn't."
This is not the first time the actress — once a child star just like Aguilera — has spoken about the encounter. "I met her, and she was so mean to me," Bertinelli said of the former Mickey Mouse Club stand-out during a radio interview in 2008. "And I thought, 'You know what? Forget you! I don't need your new album!' What's up with that? She's too young to be blowing people off."
