What to Expect on Desperate Housewives’ Eighth and Final Season

Let the Wisteria Lane cover-up begin!

When Desperate Housewives' eighth and final season premieres Sunday, Susan, Gabby and the gals are knee-deep in trying to conceal the death of Gabby's abusive stepfather, having hid the body on season 7's finale.

As the above preview clip shows, the cover-up weighs on the women, who "handle it in different ways," costar Marcia Cross, who plays Bree, explains.

Eva Longoria tells Us Weekly her character Gabby will especially struggle with the aftermath. "[It] puts a strain on her relationship with Carlos [Ricardo Chavira]," she hints. "It's funny: As serious as the crime was, there is so much humor this season. I'm having so much fun doing the physical comedy."

And that crime isn't the only bombshell that will drop on Wisteria Lane.

For the last season, "we're coming full circle," says executive producer Bob Daily. "The mystery is going to harken back to what happened in season 1." Think: Mary Alice's suicide. "We're bringing back characters you haven't seen in a while," adds Daily, who promises "a big whammy at the end!"

Desperate Housewives premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. (EST) on ABC.
