Every month, Netflix gains a lot of new movies and TV shows to keep you subscribing, but it also loses some as well.
In May, Netflix will lose all three seasons of Blue Mountain State, a cult sports comedy sitcom that launched Reacher actor Alan Ritchson to stardom.
It’s only mid-April, so you still have time to watch it before it goes. But how long do you have? And where can you watch it after it leaves?
Watch With Us has all the answers you need to watch Blue Mountain State now and in the future.
What Is ‘Blue Mountain State’ About?

A Spike TV original, Blue Mountain State debuted on January 11, 2010, and followed freshman Alex Moran (Darin Brooks) as he enrolled in the fictitious Blue Mountain State University. He quickly joins the college football team, the Mountain Goats, where he befriends Sammy Cacciatore (Chris Romano), the team’s mascot, and Craig Shilo (Smallville‘s Sam Jones III), an easy-going running back.
He also meets Thad Castle (Ritchson), the team’s intense and highly competitive captain who will do anything for his teammates — anything. The show both parodies and revels in college stereotypes, like wild parties, crazy pranks and gratuitous sex. Blue Mountain State lasted three seasons and aired its final episode on November 30, 2011. Some famous actors that appeared during its run include Schitt’s Creek star Annie Murphy and Denise Richards.
When Is Netflix Removing ‘Blue Mountain State’?
You have about two weeks to watch Blue Mountain State. Netflix is removing the Spike TV series at the end of April, so the last day you can watch is April 30. Since there are 39 episodes, each clocking in at around 21 minutes, you might want to start streaming before that date to give yourself time to watch them all — and maybe go to the bathroom.
After It Leaves, Where Can I Watch ‘Blue Mountain State’?
While it’s sad to see the popular pigskin sitcom leave Netflix, that doesn’t mean you can’t watch it. In fact, you can watch it on a variety of streaming platforms for a lot less money.
As of press time, Blue Mountain State is available to stream for free on Tubi, The Roku Channel, PLEX, Pluto TV, The CW and Xumo Play.
It’s also available to purchase on Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango.
Is Netflix Streaming Other Alan Ritchson Shows and Movies?
Yes! You can watch Ritchson reprise his role as Thad in Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland, but be warned — it leaves Netflix on May 1.
Ritchson’s other big film to watch is War Machine, a Netflix sci-fi original movie that pits the Reacher actor and several army recruits against a Terminator-like machine. The film, which also stars Dennis Quaid, Jai Courtney and Stephan James, received decent reviews and holds a good 69 percent Rotten Tomatoes score.
