Mormon Wives’ Zac Affleck is sharing more details after his wife, Jen Affleck, filed for divorce.

Posting via TikTok on Thursday, November 5, Zac, 30, spoke candidly about his side of the story, claiming that he “begged” Jen, 27, to give their marriage another shot and alleging he discovered that Jen had officially filed the papers via the media.

“I’m just going to speak from the heart,” Zac began. “Anyways, so yes, it is true that Jen filed for divorce yesterday, and it is true that I found out from a TMZ reporter about the filing, but regardless of that, this is something we’ve been talking about for a long time. Jen came to me about a year ago after Dancing with the Stars and told me she was unhappy and wanted a divorce, and I basically begged her to stay.”

Zac recalled promising to “work on things, fix things” and “become whoever she needed me to be.” However, he acknowledged the couple “ultimately just couldn’t make it work.”

Although the pair opted to go their separate ways, Zac praised his estranged wife and shared his hope that they can put their kids first moving forward. (Zac and Jen share daughters Nora, 5, and Penny, 16 months, and son Luca, 3. Jen is currently pregnant with the pair’s fourth child.)

“It sucks because I really do love Jen, and I still love Jen. And yeah, when I first met Jen, she had this light about her, unlike anyone I’ve ever met, and she really does have such a good heart,” he said. “I will continue to support her and be her biggest fan.”

Zac added that the worst part of the relationship breakdown for him was the potential impact on their children.

“I feel like I failed my kids and I’m worried that I’m going to cause them damage and I just hope that we can still give them a normal childhood,” Zac continued, adding that he and Jen are on the same page about wanting what’s best for them despite their split.

Zac went on to urge his followers not to pick sides in the break up, even though they are public figures.

“I don’t want anyone speaking bad about Jen, I don’t. I’ll just be the first to say I’ve made plenty of mistakes in our marriage, and it just really was time for us to go our own ways,” Zac said. “We got married so young, and it sucks because I really did feel like we had something pretty special when we got married, but life happened. We had four kids. We signed up for reality TV on a show that’s really hurt a lot of people’s lives.”

He continued, “It’s just hard. Marriage is hard. Having your marriage in the public is hard. Raising kids is hard, and I think we just, slowly over time, we lost that spark, and life happened. So I’m just coming on here to shut down any narratives.”
