Who's that girl? Emmy-nominated actress Zooey Deschanel!
The 32-year-old star of Fox's hit show New Girl received her first Primetime Emmy Award nomination Thursday for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
"I wanted to be an actress since I was 2-years-old," Deschanel told Entertainment Weekly after learning about her nomination. "It's always been my dream and ambition. This is the kind of moment you dream about. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that I could have this incredible honor and recognition. It's just so exciting."
Deschanel's New Girl costar Max Greenfield also received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
"I have such a great job that's just such an incredible gift, and I always want to be doing the work because I love the work and not for some other reason," the actress added. "[But] it just means so much to have this nomination."
And Deschanel shared her excitement on Twitter with fellow Outstanding Lead Actress nominee, Lena Dunham. The 26-year-old creator and star of the HBO series Girls was also nominated for Outstanding Writing and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.
"So excited for the Emmys!" Deschanel tweeted about attending the awards. "Lena Dunham — what are our nails going to wear?!"
Dunham hasn't responded to Deschanel just yet, but did tweet, "I have no jokes to make. This is an amazing morning."
She also shared her reaction to being nominated with The New York Times, explaining, "I'm so agog. If my voice sounds weird, it's because I was literally screaming, all around my house, onto my bed, down the hallway, outside my house, on the phone with everyone I know. I just was doing a big scream-fest."
