‘Everwood’ Cast Talks Chris Pratt and a Potential Reboot: Top 5 Moments

It’s like nothing’s changed! The Everwood cast reunited at Television Critics’ Association on Wednesday, August 2, to celebrate the show’s arrival on CW Seed app more than a decade after the drama ended in 2006.

Treat Williams (Dr. Andy Brown), Gregory Smith (Ephram Brown), Emily Van Camp (Amy Abbott), Vivien Cardone (Delia Brown), Tom Amandes (Dr. Harold Abbott), Justin Baldoni (Reid Bardem), Stephanie Niznik (Nina Feeney), Debra Mooney (Edna Harper) John Beasley (Ivy Harper) and executive producers Greg Berlanti and Rina Mimoun all got together for a panel to reminisce about the good times on set.

They gushed over Chris Pratt.

Although Pratt couldn’t make it to the panel, his former costars revealed their favorite memories of the actor. “I taught Chris how to play tennis and golf while we were there, we hung out quite a bit, and I told him he was going to be a star,” Beasley said. “You know, he’s a good-looking white boy. I had no idea he was going to be ‘Chris Pratt.’ But he’s just a great guy and deserve everything he gets.”

They joked that he liked to eat a lot on set, too. “He would sit down and do a take, and he would eat, and we’d call five and he would still be eating,” Amandes said. “He’s turning around, ‘This is so good! What is this, apple cake?’” (Pratt and Van Camp briefly dated during the show, but they split in 2007.)

Cardone got emotional about bonding with Williams.

 Cardone was only 9 years old when the series started in 2002. The actress remembered that she shared a special bond with her onscreen dad. “I’ll never forget when I first went [to film in Utah] — it was tough because my father had to stay in New York because he had this business there and I couldn’t see him a lot, and it was very, very difficult,” she said. “And Treat came up to me and he said, ‘Listen, I know that it’s been hard; your dad is away and I’ll make a deal with you. My family is not with me either, so if you promise to be my temporary daughter, I’ll be your temporary father.’ And that bond has stayed ever since.” As she shared the story, they both teared up and gave each other a huge hug onstage.

Berlanti reminded Us how progressive the show was.

Berlanti and Mimoun originally envisioned Dr. Andy Brown as an abortion doctor, but the network didn’t approve. However, they were allowed to address the controversial topic on the show. “People were just appreciative, I think, that we dealt with the subject matter in a complex way that we like to deal with those subject matters on our show, where we really did explore the different points of view that would go into something like that,” he said.

Williams shared a funny story about Kristen Bell.

 When Williams was asked about his favorite part of the show, he joked about Bell’s cameo as cheerleader Stacey Wilson with ruptured breast implants. “I think trying to talk Kristen Bell out of getting fake breasts was powerful,” he said. “In fact, she gave me one of them to remember her by. Very powerful.”

Berlanti said they’re down for a reboot.

“No one’s asked,” Berlanti said. “But I think we all would love to work together again.”

Williams added, “Seeing each other today was like we shot yesterday afternoon and we’re back on set again. It’s amazing how easy we are with one another."
