Sound the alarms! Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Chelsea Peretti sent the Twittersphere into overdrive after sharing how she indulges in dessert.
These Saturday Night Live alumni went on to successful TV and film careers after leaving the popular NBC comedy sketch show
“THE IMAGE I POSTED ON IG THAT HAS SET THE HOME-ON-FRIDAY INTERNET ABLAZE,” the 40-year-old actress tweeted on Saturday, September 15, alongside a screenshot that showed the remains of a chocolate treat.
“This is how i eat cake,” the pic is captioned, showing the cake portion carefully scooped out from between the frosting edges. “Not that into frosting.”
Commenters and celebrities alike had opinions on the dessert-eating method, with some sharing the same thoughts as Peretti and others taking extreme offense.
“I support this and I’ll take it a step further: Layer cake is a lie,” one follower responded. “Sheet cake is easier to eat and has a better frosting to cake ratio.”

“I prefer to eat cake without a lot of frosting,” another commenter tweeted. “Then, later, I eat a container of frosting with a spoon.”
Another quipped: “The people on here agreeing with this nonsense: JUST DONT EAT CAKE! Have a muffin! Leave the cake to actual cake lovers!”
Celebrities, including Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, were on Peretti’s side. “I hate frosting too!” Lakshmi, 48, wrote. “Too rich too sweet, except maybe cream cheese frosting and only in small doses.”
Gushed comedian Ashley Nicole Black: “Thank you. I hate frosting and we need representation and positive role models!!!”
Home Again actress Jen Kirkman’s response read, “I do the same. I don’t like creamy good frosting or too much at all. I like s–t box grocery store cake frosting.”
Peretti’s initial Instagram post racked up more than 73,000 likes, while her tweet garnered the attention of almost 2,000 commenters and over 23,000 people who liked the tweet.
