Blessed be the (fermented) fruit! A Handmaid’s Tale line of wine is now available for purchase, because what else can make it easier to digest the shocking and occasionally all-too-real goings on in Gilead?

The collection of three wines, which debuted on Tuesday, July 10, on Lot18.com, honors to a trio of characters from the hit Hulu drama, The Handmaid’s Tale, based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel of the same name. What’s more? The libations even share characteristics with the bold women they are named after.

The Offred wine, for example, which takes after Elisabeth Moss’ Gilead alter-ego, is a French pinot noir with “dark berry fruit and cassis aromatics so beguiling it seems almost forbidden to taste,” according to Lot18. The drink also has a “smooth and appealingly earthy profile,” and pairs well with chicken, mushroom risotto and pork chops.

The Ofglen wine, which is also a red, is a bold cabernet sauvignon that is just as daring as Alexis Bledel’s intrepid character. Since concentrated flavors of cherry, plum and currant dominate this wine, along with savory notes of coffee bean, smoke and dried herbs, it pairs well with hearty red meats.

For something a bit lighter, the Serena Joy white wine, inspired by Yvonne Strahovski’s character, is clean and fresh, just like its namesake. The Bordeaux blanc has notes of citrus and lemongrass that are backed by weight and concentration. As Lot18 puts it, just as you should “never mistake a woman’s meekness for weakness,” this is a wine you shouldn’t judge too quickly, lest you miss out on a sublime experience.
