Sometimes dads need a break too! On Tuesday, November 27, Carey Hart took his kids with musician Pink, Willow, 7, and Jameson, 23 months, to a bar for dinner because he was too tired to cook. Hart shared a photo of the outing on Instagram that day, and it’s clear the little ones enjoyed their respective meals.
“Dinner w/ these two knuckle heads while mama works,” Hart, 43, captioned the snapshot of his son and daughter chowing down. He also added “#IWasToTiredToCook” and “#BarFoodForTheWin.” Willow appears to be polishing off either an ice cream cone or hand roll, while her little brother is snacking on dry cereal from the tabletop.
Even though social media can often be a venue for people to criticize others, many users identified with Hart’s exhaustion and applauded him for introducing his kids to tasty bar food. Several users even pointed out that the Hart family outing was either an improvement over similar excursions they had as kids when their own parents didn’t feel like cooking, or just like bar trips they’ve taken with their own hungry kiddos.
“Bar food would’ve been an upgrade,” one user commented. “My mom took us to the yogurt shop for dinner when she didn’t want to cook.” Added another: “Our dive corner bar has lobster Mac n cheese that my son loves.”
Overall, the comments were extremely positive, with others praising Hart for being a “great dad” and for “keeping it real about parenting.”
Later that night, the former motocross competitor offered more of his honest (but funny!) take on parenting. “Left or right?,” he asked, sharing a photo with a sippy cup on the left side and a coffee mug on the right. “I’m going w/ @blackriflecoffee. School prep for Willz is real.”
Pink, 39, has also been lauded for her candid views on parenting. When another mother asked the “Beautiful Trauma” singer for advice in October 2017, she replied, “You’re doing the best you can, which is amazing, and all children really need is love.”
