Twix bars are about to get a whole lot sweeter! On Tuesday, December 11, Mars, the maker of Twix, announced that a new flavor of the popular sweet treat is about to join the lineup – Triple Chocolate.
The bars, which are slated to be packed with “triple the chocolate taste” of an original Twix, are expected to debut in December, according to a press release. They will be sold at major retailers nationwide in singles packs and share size.
While regular Twix candies feature a butter cookie center topped with caramel and coated with milk chocolate, Triple Chocolate Twix treats are made of chocolate cookie bars and chocolate caramel that has been smothered in milk chocolate. “With triple the flavor, Twix Triple Chocolate Cookie Bars are yet another reason for our fans to love Twix,” the release stated.
“Our consumers are seeking chocolate treats that play on texture and crunch,” explained Twix brand director Michelle Deignan. “This new flavor takes the classic Twix Cookie Bar our fans know and love and combines it with three-times the chocolate to create a new favorite for all chocolate lovers.”
However, as Twix devotees might know, this bar isn’t exactly brand new. Mars first released a Triple Chocolate Twix in the U.K. in the early 1990s and brought the flavor across the pond for a limited time in 2010. It now joins a family that includes original Twix, Peanut Butter Twix and White Chocolate Twix.
“Oohhhh I need to try these!!” wrote one eager Twitter user. Added another: “Send me a truck load.”
