Just because you didn’t snag a ticket to the Governors Ball, doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate Oscar night on Sunday, February 24, by eating like a star! Chef Wolfgang Puck is celebrating his 25th year of catering the post-awards show bash (which is the official after-Oscar celebration of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences), and he’s sharing recipes for a few of the most popular dishes that will be served with Us Weekly.
Since the event, which will be held in the Ray Dolby Ballroom on the top level of the Hollywood & Highland Center, is expected to be attended by A-listers such as 2019 nominees Lady Gaga and Rami Malek, it’s no surprise that Puck’s expertly curated menu of more than 60 dishes includes some decadent eats.
For example, the pizza with smoked salmon and caviar takes the Italian staple and flips it on its head. Instead of using tomato sauce and cheese, the award-winning cook makes his pizza pie using a homemade dough that’s topped with crème fraîche, smoked salmon, dill and two different types of caviar.
Another comfort food that’s getting a star-worthy upgrade from Puck? Macaroni and cheese. The culinary expert’s take on this classic uses three types of cheese and is topped with brioche breadcrumbs. As if you needed another reason to start drooling, Puck’s version of the dish also boasts black truffles baked into it and a hefty helping of fresh black truffles resting atop the rich meal.
And since no good party is complete without some alcoholic beverages, Tequila Don Julio has created not one, but two tasty cocktails for the bash. Both libations were created by award-winning bartender Charles Joly, and feature lavish touches such as an actual hibiscus flower (because why not?) and an orange-oil mist.
