E! Daily 10 anchor Sal Masekela didn't quite beat Sean "Diddy" Combs, but he still did a good deed when it came to completing the 26.2 mile New York City marathon.

Prior to the start gun Nov. 1, first-time runner Masekela set out to best the rapper's 2003 time in an effort to raise funds for Stoked Mentoring, an organization he cofounded to support sports programs for kids.

"One hundred percent of the money I raised will go to Stoked.org," Masekela told Usmagazine.com before the race. After crossing the finish line, Masekela Tweeted: "Well Tweeps, I let you down. Didn't beat @iamdiddy. Hit a wall from hell at 18. Finished around 5 hrs. Hardest thing I've ever done."

Diddy applauded the anchor's initiative, and has announced that he will double his donation to the mentoring program. Celebs like Justin Timberlake and Rob Dyrdek, along with corporations Asics and DFDTV.com also supported Masekela's efforts.

"Running the NYC Marathon was the biggest slice of humble pie I've ever eaten. It breaks you down to the very fiber of your being," Masekela said in a statement to Us.

"I'm indebted to Diddy for accepting my "challenge." Without his being on board, my run would have been like a tree falling in the forest. No one would've seen it."

To date, over $80,000 has been raised as a direct result of Masekela's marathon fundraising campaign.
