Aaron Rodgers is opening up for the first time about his unexpected reunion with his younger brother, Jordan Rodgers.
“There was some stuff there and then I could tell I was coming to a time where I needed to make it right,” Aaron, 42, said on the Thursday, September 10, episode of Cam Heyward’s “Not Just Football” podcast, referring to his reunion with his parents earlier this year. “My parents were wanting to move to Nashville to be closer to their grandkids, and there were some tragic events that happened in Chico, [California] that kind of made them not feel as tied to it.”
According to Aaron, he visited parents Ed and Darla Rodgers at their home ahead of their cross-country move.
“A couple weeks after that, I went out to Nashville and met with my older brother,” the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback said, referring to brother Luke Rodgers, who lives in Tennessee with wife Aimee Rodgers and their three children. “A couple weeks after that, I met with my little brother. It was cool.”
Jordan, 38, had confirmed on a 2016 episode of his now-wife JoJo Fletcher’s season of The Bachelorette that Aaron wouldn’t be present with the rest of their family for his hometown date due to a long-held estrangement. Aaron later criticized Jordan for publicizing the family drama.
After years of a public he-said-he-said, Aaron revealed on Thursday that two siblings had a “tough conversation” during their recent visit. (Jordan and Fletcher, 35, primarily reside in Puerto Rico with their daughter Romy, who was born in December 2025.)
“I’m in a much better headspace, and I said it before, but my wife deserves a lot of the credit for that just to be even able to to get to that point where I could think about having the conversation,” Aaron said, shouting out his wife, Brittani, for her encouragement in helping mend fences. “She was a big part of that, not that she was pushing anything, she wasn’t.”
He continued, “When you’re loved by someone in such an unconditional and beautiful pure way, it changes your perspective on all your relationships around that. That becomes your anchor point. It’s like, wow, if I can be made to feel like this by this person, it opens up your heart in a really deeper way, you know, that I never experienced before.”
Aaron, who announced in June 2025 that he quietly married Brittani months prior after a private courtship, further noted on Thursday that he believed he would “never” reconcile with his parents and brothers ahead of his romance.
“I mean, a year ago, even two years ago, [and] five years ago for sure, I would have said, ‘No, I’m never going to reconcile. It’s just not going to happen. It’s not in the cards. I’m not ready for that,’” he stated. “It was really built in judgment, just like ego and judgment. And ego and judgment gets in the way of any progress or evolution. I had to really put those aside.”
