Dua Lipa and husband Callum Turner had a date night at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, October 7 — which was crashed by the notorious MLB superfan known as “Marlins Man.”
Marlins Man (real name Laurence Leavy) has become famous for his frequent appearances at major sporting events, always donning the bright orange jersey of the Miami Marlins in plain view of TV cameras.
During the Yankees’ playoff game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night, Marlins Man was seated behind home plate right next to Lipa, 31, and Turner, 36, who got married in May. (The couple held a second wedding the following month.)
Marlins Man shared a photo of the trio in their seats, though he admittedly wasn’t familiar with the “Levitating” singer and her actor husband.
“So i had no idea who this couple were and they were so nice and friendly to everyone,” Marlins Man shared via X. “I told them i know sports, not music nor movies. They recently got married in june in italy i think. I wish them 50 years or more of happiness.”
As his interactions with Lipa, which were visible throughout the game on the Fox broadcast, started going viral on social media, Marlins Man shared more details about his new friend.
“It was her 1st baseball [game] ever,” he wrote via X. “And 1st american hot dog ever.”
Marlins Man boasted he even got Lipa “stand during god bless america unlike Bad Bunny.” (In October 2025, Marlins Man was unsuccessful in convincing the Puerto Rican rapper to stand during the song at a Yankees playoff game in New York City.)
Ultimately, Marlins Man said Lipa was “super nice” and he had a “special night” with the newlyweds.
It was not a special night for the Yankees, however, who lost to the Rays, 4-3, and were swept in their American League Divisional Series three games to none.
Tampa Bay advances to play the winner of the series between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox in the American League Championship Series.
Marlins Man explained the origins of his omnipresence at major sporting events in an interview with ESPN in 2018.
“I’ve been doing this for a long time, but pretty much in teal,” he explained. “When the Marlins went into orange, somebody in San Francisco said, ‘Come to the World Series and bring your orange Marlins jersey.’ And that’s when it started. Then I wore it to the [Miami] Heat playoff games in 2012 and 2013. When I wore it, the Heat won. And when I didn’t wear it, they lost.”
Marlins Man continued, “So people said, ‘Wear the jersey.’ It became a good luck thing.”
