According to Las Vegas Raiders superstar Maxx Crosby, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes can get quite vocal on the field when things aren’t going his way.
Crosby, 29, was asked if Mahomes, 31, “makes noise when you tackle him” on the Tuesday, October 6, episode of his “The Rush with Maxx Crosby” podcast.
The defensive end responded by making an odd guttural sound, telling cohost Brogan Roback, “Maybe.”
“Don’t say ‘moan,’” Roback, 32, said. “Just don’t say that word.”
Crosby smiled and responded, “There’s no other word, so you can’t really… Pause. But it was a great battle.”
The five-time Pro Bowler was referencing the Chiefs’ 30-27 victory over the Raiders in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 4, during which Crosby had three tackles and hit Mahomes five times.
“It’s just funny, every time I hit him he rolls over and then he just peeks at me,” Crosby said on the podcast. “It’s always my face and I’m just staring at him. But it’s respect, bro. He’s the best quarterback of our generation, you know what I mean?”
He continued, “For me, I want to be looked at as the best at my position. When you have two division rivals that are willing to go to the f***ing farthest extent to go win, I think it just made for great entertainment and great competition.”
Crosby recalled he had “a couple hard ass licks” on Mahomes.
“A couple times I’m just like, ‘Hold the f***ing ball for a split half-second more,” Crosby said, noting there were “a couple times” when he hit Mahomes and he wasn’t sure if the quarterback managed to get the ball away.
“You don’t know, you’re going so f***ing fast,” he said.
Mahomes has led the Chiefs to a perfect 4-0 start the season, marking his return from a season-ending leg injury suffered in December 2025. Despite the Raiders’ loss – their first of the season – the Las Vegas team is off to a surprising 3-1 start after winning only three games for the entirety of last season.
The two teams will meet again to close out the regular season in Kansas City on January 10.
Mahomes said “it took my best football in order to get the win” after squeaking out the Sunday victory .
“It’s an awesome stadium, it really is,” Mahomes said of Allegiant Stadium, home of the Raiders. “It’s cool, there’s always great games played here and the Chiefs Kingdom travels well. I always take a lot pride when I play here to play my best football.”
