On the off chance you wanted to get a look at Dan Orlovsky’s feet, you might want to reconsider.
The former NFL quarterback revealed on the Tuesday, July 28, episode of ESPN’s Get Up that not only has he never had a pedicure, he is against ever getting one on principle.
“I have never gotten a pedicure,” Orlovsky, 42, declared while raising his right hand. “I never will. I’m completely against pedicures for dudes.”
His cohost, Mike Greenberg, incredulously asked him why, but Orlovsky only added, “You’re a dude, you’re not supposed to get pedicures.”
The bizarre conversation was sparked by the revelation that Florida head football coach Jon Sumrall gets a pedicure every two weeks, according to an interview his wife did with a local reporter.
“I am so against it, this is a thing for me,” Orlovsky doubled down. “Dudes should not be getting pedicures.”
As the panel laughed at the absurd discussion, Greenberg, 58, noted that Jay Williams and Monica McNutt were both cracking up off-camera. ESPN quickly cut to the pair as Williams, 44, said, “Nasty feet, Dan. Nasty feet.”
“My feet are awful, I totally agree,” Orlovsky said. “But I’d rather have awful feet than get pedicures.”
When Orlovsky mentioned that he has friends who take their teenage sons to get pedicures, Greenberg said, “I think it’s an excellent idea and you should join them.”
Greenberg then added that Orlovsky’s wife texted him while they were on-air and encouraged him to talk her husband into a pedicure.
This wasn’t the first time Orlovsky has ruffled feathers for his takes on gender or gender roles. In 2024, he posted via X, “Protect our daughters,” amid the Imane Khelif controversy, before deleting the post.
Khelif, 27, is an Algerian boxer who was competing at the 2024 Summer Olympics at the time. When inaccurate reports circulated that she was transgender and allegedly failed sex verification tests, she came under intense scrutiny. That scrutiny was elevated when one of her Olympic opponents withdrew from a bout against her. (Khelif was born female and has always identified as such.)
Orlovsky later explained why he deleted his post, saying he did so because he is an employee of ESPN.
“When you’re an employee of a big company, your social media page doesn’t just get to be your social media page,” he said. “That’s a fantasy, so you have to represent yourself and the company that you work for in the proper way.”
Khelif went on to win the gold medal as she was again forced to reiterate that she is a woman.
“I’m fully qualified to take part in this competition,” she said after her win. “I’m a woman like any other woman. I was born as a woman, I live as a woman, and I am qualified.”
