New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and his wife, Jen, posed together in celebration of their son Tyler’s engagement, in the shadow of the head coach’s scandal involving NFL reporter Dianna Russini.
“The most perfect engagement surrounded by the people I love most,” Tyler’s fiancée, Mariah Romano, shared via Instagram on Sunday, June 7.
Mike, 50, and Jen smiled for the camera in one of the photos shared by Romano, standing alongside the newly-engaged couple and Mike and Jen’s younger son, Carter.
Tyler, who saw action in two games for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons in 2023, now works as offensive line consultant for his alma mater, Boston College.
The engagement comes two months after Mike and Russini, 43, were seen together in pictures published by Page Six, showing the pair interlocking hands and sharing a hot tub during their visit to an Arizona luxury resort in March.
Mike and Russini — who has been married to her husband, Kevin Goldschmidt, since September 2020 — were subsequently seen together in other published photos and videos, showing that their alleged relationship dates back to at least March 2020, when they were seen kissing at a bar in New York City.
After initially downplaying his connection to Russini, Mike announced plans to seek counseling in late April.
“I promised my family, this organization and this team that I was going to give them the best version of me that I can possibly give them. In order to do so, I have committed to seeking counseling, starting this weekend,” the coach said in a statement to ESPN on April 22. “This is something that I have given a lot of thought to and is something I would advise a player to do if I was counseling them.”
He continued, “I have always wanted to lead by example, and I believe this is what I have to do to be the best husband, father and coach that I possibly can be. This is not an easy thing for me to admit, but it is one that I know will make me a better person. I appreciate the support that everyone has given me and promise a stronger resolve as a result.”
Mike and Jen — who have been married since 1999 — attended counseling together in Utah, according to Page Six.
The Patriots coach was asked about his current work-life balance during a press conference late last month.
“My family is great,” Mike told reporters on May 27. “I love Jen, I love the boys.”
