It didn’t take long for New England Patriots offensive tackle Will Campbell to know that fiancée Ashlynn Nussmeier was The One.
Will, 22 and Ashlynn, 21, started dating in June 2025, after being introduced by Ashlynn’s brother, then-Louisiana State University quarterback, Garrett Nussmeier.
“I knew I wanted to propose after the first time we hung out,” Will exclusively told Us. “I bought the ring in 2025 and had it for six months and started to plan the day two months before.”
Will, who was selected with the No. 4 overall pick by the Patriots in the 2025 NFL Draft after a standout career at LSU, dropped to one knee on the rooftop of Catbird at the Thompson Hotel in Dallas on May 23, 2026.
“I had no idea what was happening,” Ashlynn recalled to Us. “I walked onto the rooftop and saw flowers leading to a beautiful setup overlooking the Dallas skyline. He had acted completely normal all day, so I was shocked that he wasn’t being weird or acting nervous. He had planned the sweetest day, and it made the entire moment so special.”
Will and Ashlynn exclusively shared pictures with Us – taken, coincidentally, by a photographer named Dallas Robinson – from their engagement photo shoot, which were taken at the Dallas Arboretum in July.
“Dallas will eventually be our home together, which made it especially meaningful,” Ashlynn said. “We feel like our photographer did such a great job capturing the love, fun, and playful side of our relationship.”
The couple has plans to get married next summer in New Orleans.
“We are excited to continue making new memories together, creating special moments in new cities, and, most of all, getting to do life together,” Ashlynn gushed.
Ashlynn – the daughter of New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier – admitted that their relationship has been “a learning process,” as Will began his NFL career and she finished her studies at LSU.
“It has taught us to soak in every moment we have together,” she said. “We both know that each aspect of our lives takes time and dedication, so we have learned to give each other space and support whenever it is needed. We are grateful for every opportunity we get and that we are able to share it with one another.”
The couple worked hard to make their long-distance situation work, even through “difficult times,” with Ashlynn taking “every opportunity to travel up to Boston” and Will heading back to Baton Rouge when his schedule allowed.
“It takes sacrifice, time, and effort, but when you are both committed to making it work, you find the perfect balance,” Ashlynn said. “We have also been incredibly thankful to be surrounded by great people who can guide us and share similar experiences with us.”
