Patrick Mahomes is showing the reality behind his comeback.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, 30, gave the first glimpse of the vertical scar on his knee four months after undergoing ACL surgery in a new photo shared by his wife, Brittany Mahomes, via Instagram on Tuesday, April 14.

“Go to a TX farm, invite all ya friends and fam🤍 the best weekend with our squad! 🙏🏼” she captioned a montage of portraits, one of which showed Patrick with their youngest daughter, Golden, seated on his lap in a life vest while the two enjoyed paddleboarding together. (In addition to Golden, 15 months, Patrick and Brittany, 30, are also parents to daughter Sterling, 5, and son Bronze, 3.)

Patrick went under the knife to reconstruct his torn left cruciate ligament one day after getting a torn ACL during the Chiefs-Chargers game on December 14, 2025, which resulted in a 16-13 victory for the Chargers.

Other snapshots showed the family of five having a blast during their stay at Promised Land Village’s Milk and Honey Ranch, which “combines the peaceful atmosphere of farm life with the entertainment and excitement of luxurious, resort-style accommodations and amenities.” The Mahomes brood was seen making s’mores and enjoying petting the farm animals.

Patrick previously spoke out about his season-ending injury in a video shared to the Kansas City Chiefs’ Instagram account earlier this year, revealing he was focused on resting and relaxing so he could get back on the field.

The NFL star said he was “hitting all the checkpoints” in rehab and was determined to return to training camp this fall.

“The doctor kind of gives you goals to get to,” he shared on January 15. “I just try to maximize those — they hold me back, because I always want to go a little bit further.”

“I want to be ready for Week 1,” he added. “The doctors said I could be, but I can’t predict what happens throughout the process,” Mahomes admitted. “You want to be out there healthy and give us the best chance to win. I hope to do some things in [Organized Team Activities] and training camp, and be able to do a lot there.”

Meanwhile, coach Andy Reid is remaining optimistic about Patrick’s recovery. “Every player is different. I will tell you though, I would never bet against him,” Reid, 68, said during the NFL’s annual meetings on March 31, according to ESPN. “He’s going to put in the time and effort and always push it but within reason, so he doesn’t take steps back.”
