Celebs love an eye-catching coat, especially when they’re rocking on-point street style. But recently, Us has noticed an uptick in stars including Rihanna, Alessandra Ambrosio, Amy Schumer, and more making blanket statements in cozy ponchos.

Check out the four reasons you should reach for a pullover this fall 2015.

1. They’re the perfect transition coat.

The drape-y layer comes in multiple fabrics, ranging from wool to lightweight cotton, so they make the perfect summer-to-fall topper. A flannel option like Christina Milian‘s own line, We Are Pop Culture, keeps you cozy while the shorter sleeves mean you won’t get overheated.

2. They are flexible garments.

If it’s unseasonably warm, you can let the breeze flow in the bottom, and if the temperature drops, wrap it tighter, like Amy Schumer in her Forever 21 cape.

3. They work no matter the weather.

Throwing a poncho over light-wash denim (similar to Alessandra Ambrosio’s casual style from Minnie Rose) creates an effortlessly boho vibe, and her fringe is definitely on point.

4. The blanket style hides problem areas.

One of the best things about ponchos is that they can draw the eye to the legs (especially when you go bare a la Rihanna in her 6397 poncho), and away from typical tough spots, like the waist.
