Wintour is coming! Amy Schumer and Anna Wintour have drastically different jobs that are probably tougher than they appear. So the funnywoman and the fashionista traded places to see just how hard their respective roles are.
In a Vogue.com video, the magazine’s editor in chief shades the Inside Amy Schumer star (who is on the cover the July 2016 issue) for her casual duds, while Schumer asserts that Wintour’s job is a lot easier than she lets on. To put that to the test, they trade places for a day. Schumer, 35, dons a printed midi dress, a huge pair of shades, stilettos and a strand of pearls à la Wintour for a fashion run-through.
“Is that a shirt?” a befuddled Schumer asks. “And a skirt?”
But Wintour, 66, takes on her challenge with gusto and kills her set at the comedy club. She even ends her routine with a mic drop!
In the issue, Schumer revealed that her attitude toward fashion in the video imitates reality. “I don’t think it’s stupid; there’s no moral reasoning,” she said. “It’s just not my thing. … I just have this sense of entitlement that I should be able to feel comfortable at all times, like I could go to bed at any moment in what I’m wearing.”
She also opened up about the responsibility that comes with her art. “I have this innate need to say things that I think are important for people to hear,” she continued. “And I can’t stand injustice, so even if it makes people uncomfortable, I’m not afraid enough of conflict to keep my mouth shut.”
