Sometimes bad fashion happens to good people!
Anne Hathaway suffered a minor style misstep at the 2014 World of Children Awards in New York City on Thursday, Nov. 6. The Interstellar actress, 31, who’d been consistently causing jaws to drop with her sleek dresses during the film’s press tour, failed to appease in a white leather Valentino dress with flowery frills around the bust and an overly dainty Peter Pan collar.
A sheer black inset on the décolleté attempted to bring some edge to the outfit, but the usually well-dressed starlet still had a Little House on the Prairie feel. In another rare move, Hathaway posed on the red carpet with her husband actor and producer Adam Shulman.
It’s hard to explain this direction when she was so on-point at the Interstellar movie premiere in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Hathaway wowed in a black Calvin Klein Collection knit tank dress that showcased her fit hourglass form. She paired the winning red carpet ensemble with shiny silver metallic Jimmy Choo pumps.
On Nov. 3, she took a fashion risk that paid off in a lace Rodarte frock and Christian Louboutin pumps for the film’s New York City premiere. That same day, she also slayed in a shimmering strapless Vivienne Westwood dress on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Hathaway recalled another fashion misstep, though not so minor, at the 2013 Oscar Awards. Us Weekly broke the story that she settled on a last minute change from her “pink embroidered tulle illusion gown” by Valentino after discovering Les Mis costar Amanda Seyfried was wearing a similar dress. “I can’t forget about it. It haunts me still,” Hathaway joked during her interview with Jimmy Fallon.
Far from ever being Hathahate — here’s to hoping she returns to her fail-proof red carpet style.
