The Force is with Ariana Grande!
The pint-size songstress, 21, may be a very busy lady promoting her sophomore album, My Everything, but she’s not too busy to try a fun (and very rare) new hairstyle. On Thursday, Sept. 11, she debuted a funky twist on her trademark half-up, half-down style—she aded two, mini-Princess Leia buns, not unlike the pair Miley Cyrus rocked at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
“Princess Leia-ish vibes on my day awf in japan….” the starlet captioned the first of three Star Wars-inspired bun photos posted to her Instagram account, including this black and white shot in which she works her best doe-eyed pouty face.
Perhaps it is indeed a homage to Cyrus, whose blonde baby buns added lots of sass to her VMAs look, and were just one of the many controversial topics the “Wrecking Ball” singer inspired that evening.
But of course, the look comes as no surprise, as Grande has already professed a love for all things science fiction: Just look at the music video for one of her latest singles, “Break Free,” featuring the Mariah Carey soundalike running around in space with aliens and a rocket-powered bra.
