Beauty Crush: Anne Hathaway’s Effortless Hair and Makeup

Okay, so maybe the thick tortoiseshell frames that Anne Hathaway wore at Sunday night's Rio premiere were less hipster chic and more Mia Thermopolis geek, but her hair and makeup looked pretty great on the "blue" carpet.

Despite it's slightly disheveled appearance, her ponytail, which Adir Abergel of Frederic Fekkai calls a "modernized 1960's hair style, that was sexy and full of texture," required several steps.

First, Abergel applied Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume Styling Whip throughout the hair, and roughly blow dried it. He then dried the rest of the hair straight, before curling it with a 1 1/4 inch iron. Next, he applied Fekkai Coiff Oceanique Tousled Wave Spray and scrunched the hair with a diffuser to give it texture. Following the line of the ear to the crown of the head, he pulled Hathaway's hair back into a ponytail, leaving pieces down around her face.

Her pale apricot lips and violet smoky eyes were created to coincide with her glasses and purple dress, says makeup artist Molly Stern. "We wanted to keep it fun and fresh. We were listening to Patti Smith while getting ready so we incorporated a bit of rock 'n roll edge!"

Stern used a few Nars eyeshadows including Daphne, Coconut Grove and Exotic Dance Duo (available April 15). To get the perfect nude lip color, she applied Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bolero and Nars Lipstick in Mayflower (both available April 15).
