Hair-spiration! Caitlyn Jenner's hairstylist Courtney Nanson recently revealed how the the I Am Cait star found her day-to-day style and what she does when her glam squad isn’t around.
For Jenner, 65, it was obvious from the start that she should have long locks. "Cait has always loved long hair. Her whole life people were constantly telling her to cut it. It’s more than just a look; it’s a feeling," Nanson—who worked with Jenner even before her big debut on the cover of Vanity Fair—told Allure. "I have put Cait's hair up, pulled it back on the sides, or into a high ponytail depending on what the situation calls for. But mainly the daily hairstyle is a fresh look, softly curving around her face with fullness. It will work for anything she might be doing that day and will last through the night."
Dishing on Jenner’s signature full-body style, Nanson revealed her secret ingredients for achieving the loose curls. "I love doing a big blowout on Cait's hair," she said. "I recommend working with three to four different sizes of round brushes. I start at the hairline working one inch sections around the entire head—I use the smallest brush first and graduate up a size with each section."
But Jenner can’t always depend on her glam squad for a perfect coif. Instead she’s learned how to work with a few simple, go-to items. "I got Cait her own styling tools specifically to help her style her hair herself. She will use a set of large hot rollers that heats up in eight seconds, which makes it quick and easy," said Nanson. "One of my favorite tools I got her is an automatic curling iron, which she uses to add loose waves for a daytime look. I must say, she does a pretty good job at styling her own hair."
Just because Jenner has mastered the hot tools doesn't mean she's not open to new styles. "Cait is always up for trying out different looks. We still play with different lengths, and I think we always will. It’s really exciting to work with somebody who’s doing things for the first time. It’s important to experiment," Nanson said. "I recently added some lighter tones for the summer, which was her idea."
