Here’s Why Cara Delevingne Smeared Lipstick All Over Her Face

Not what you think of when you hear "smear campaign." Cara Delevingne had lipstick all over her face in an Instagram selfie on Thursday, January 28, but it was all for a good cause.

The smudged makeup on her eyes, cheeks and forehead was a way for the model, 23, to raise awareness for cervical cancer. "My #SmearForSmear Cervical Cancer Campaign Selfie," she captioned the pic.

She then added her nominations for the next round of lip laquer smearing: her sisters, Poppy and Chloe Delevingne, and BFFs Kendall Jenner, Suki Waterhouse and Georgia May Jagger.

The #SmearForSmear campaign, running during Cervical Cancer Prevention Week 2016, January 24 through the 30th, is part of U.K.-based charity Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust’s mission to raise awareness about the importance of pap smears. The test can identify and reduce the risk of cervical cancer, the most common form of the disease in U.K. women under 35.
