Isn't she lovely? Catherine Zeta-Jones looked positively radiant on Sunday, Sept. 22, in her first red carpet appearance since news of her separation from husband Michael Douglas went public on Aug. 28. While her estranged spouse was in L.A. accepting a Primetime Emmy Award for his role in the HBO Liberace film Behind the Candelabra, the Welsh beauty, 43, was in China's Shandong province to announce the launch of a new $5 billion film studio, as well as plans for a Chinese film festival hosted by AMC Entertainment.

The Playing for Keeps actress looked glam and gorgeous in an orange and pale-blue printed gown by Dennis Basso. She showed no signs of heartache as she smiled for photographs outside the newly opened Oriental Movie Metropolis.

Her husband, meanwhile, was in a similarly jovial mood at the 2013 Emmys. Accepting the award for Outstanding Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries, the 68-year-old actor made a couple of racy gay sex jokes about Matt Damon, his costar in Behind the Candelabra. He also acknowledged his estranged wife.

"I want to thank my wife, Catherine, for her support; my kids, Dylan and Carys; and a shout-out for my oldest son, Cameron," he said. (Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10, are his children with Zeta-Jones; Cameron, 34, who is currently serving a prison sentence, is his son with ex-wife Diandra Douglas.)

Married for 13 years, Douglas and Zeta-Jones confirmed in August that they were "taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage." But Douglas, at least, seems confident that they'll smooth out their issues. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight's Nancy O'Dell on the red carpet outside L.A.'s Nokia Theatre, the Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps star said everything was "fine" between him and his wife.

"Everybody is fine. Nothing really more to say," he told O'Dell. "We were just taking a little break. We're talking. I think everything will be fine, and I'm very hopeful."
