When it comes to Jennifer Aniston, there are two things that the world (yes, the world) can't get enough of: her relationship status and her hair. Let's get her love life of the way so we can focus on the latter. No, she's not dating Bradley Cooper (multiple sources have told Us Weekly that the two are "just friends.") As for her famous hair, the 42-year-old lopped off several inches back in February. "It was just time for a change," her longtime hairstylist Chris McMillan told allure.com.
But what about her gorgeous sun-kissed color? Does Aniston have any plans to mess with that kind of perfection? We went straight to Michael Canale, the man behind her sought-after golden blonde shade to find out.
Us: How would you describe Jen’s current color?
MC: A very light sandy beige, with her signature highlights in the front.
Us: When did you start working with her and how did you change her color?
MC: I started working with Jen about 15 years ago. I began by taking her from a medium brown to a light golden brown with two bright highlights to accent the "Rachel" cut that Chris Mcmillan designed. From that point on we gradually went blonder.
Us: How often do you touch up her color?
MC: To keep her look, I work on Jen about every five weeks. I always keep the front bright and natural with subtle golden highlights in her part.
Us: Who can wear it?
MC: I would suggest her look if your natural hair color is light to medium golden brown, with lighter ends. This looks best with olive to warm skin tones.
Us: What should you ask your colorist for if you want her color?
MC: The first thing to ask your colorist is, "is this color right for me?" You should also ask how much maintenance is involved in achieving this look, along with keeping it up.
Us: Has Jennifer ever wanted to make a dramatic change, like go much darker, lighter or even red?
MC: Yes, but only for movie roles. [Editor's note: PHEW]
Us: What are some of your best hair color tips?
MC: Always try to bring out your eye color and skin under tones. Make sure your natural color is involved. Also, hue enhancing glosses prolong the life of your hair color and keep it from fading.
