Savannah Banana’s Jackson Olson is addressing the comments about his smile.
“I’ve been getting a lot of videos, comments, questions about my teeth,” Olson, 28, said via TikTok on Monday, September 21. “No, they’re not real. They’re veneers.”
The Dancing With the Stars season 35 competitor then explained that during a baseball game three years ago, he got hit in the face with a ball and broke his jaw. “Even though it was one of the worst pains I had ever felt, I had one question for my athletic trainer: are my teeth fine though?” In the clip, he could be seen grabbing his jaw while standing back up from the ground. At the time, his trainer told him that his teeth looked “fine.”
“30 minutes later, I was in the hospital and realized my teeth were, in fact, not fine,” he continued, showing an old video of him dancing in his uniform in a hospital room. Three weeks later, Olson was back on the field — but with a cage on his helmet to protect his jaw.

His story found its way to a cosmetic dentist who told him that his teeth were “at risk of dying.” He also had gaps between his teeth “because of the impact.”
“This was my chance for everything to get better before it got way, way worse,” he shared. “Sometimes in life you get thrown a curveball — or even worse, a 90-mile-an-hour pitch to the face, but through all the adversity life throws at you, remember to stay positive, continue to live your life and usually, in return, good things will happen.”
“This is the story about my fake teeth,” Olson captioned the post. “Dont ask me about the Chipotle smoothies I had to eat 😭🤢.” Fans were quick to support Olson, who was paired with pro Emma Slater, in the comments section.
“Your teeth are fine. I’m so sorry the internet is making this a thing. Keep smiling and being a stand up guy,” one wrote, which Olson “liked.” A second added, “Yep, and they look great! perfect smile.😁🫶💛.”
During week one of Dancing With the Stars, Olson and Slater, 37, performed a Savannah Bananas-themed cha-cha to the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe.” They ended up scoring a 15 out of 30. On Tuesday, September 22, the duo will hit the ballroom and dance a Foxtrot to “That’s So True” by Gracie Abrams.
