Their time to shine!
The magic that happens every awards season, including the parade of fanciful gowns and the sparkle of decadent jewels, would not commence without the handiwork of Hollywood's top celebrity stylists. On Wednesday, March 18, The Hollywood Reporter and Pret-a-Porter released its annual list bestowing the top spot to Petra Flannery, the wonder woman behind Emma Stone's breathtaking red carpet reign.
"I really try to individualize my clients," Flannery told THR. "I concentrate on their particular fashion persona." Flannery, who also works with Amy Adams, Zoe Saldana, and Mila Kunis, revealed her favorite look of the season was Stone's remix on menswear for the Golden Globes 2015. "It was daring to wear pants on a major red carpet like that," she said of the Lanvin ensemble. Stone added, "We didn't set out to be trendy."
Following Flannery is New York-based Leslie Fremar, who styles Julianne Moore. Her favorite style moment was the Oscar winner's dazzling ombre silver Givenchy gown at the Golden Globes 2015. "Riccardo Tisci asked Julianne to give him ideas of things she loves, and she said furs and feathers," Fremar recalled. "I don't think people realize that everyone of those crystals was put on by hand; it was like 2,000 hours of work."
Fashion power duo Karla Welch and Kemal Harris' red carpet looks for Felicity Jones and Robin Wright landed them in the third spot. For the Theory of Everything actress' Oscars 2015 Alexander McQueen gown, in particular, Welch said, "We created a story of elegance and didn't fall into trends."
Rounding out the top five is Kate Young (who styles Dakota Johnson and Sienna Miller) and Ilaria Urbinati (who works with Laura Dern and Bradley Cooper.) Head over to The Hollywood Reporter to see who else made the cut.
