Google’s Most-Asked Hairstyle Questions, Answered

Questions that need answers! Every year, Google releases its list of most popular searches in practically every category from sports to selfies. Hairstyles are no exception. But the curious masses weren’t wondering about huns or cutting the most precise bangs ever. One of the year’s most googled beauty questions of 2016 was how to successfully assemble a fishtail braid.

While your typical three-strand braid is pretty simple, we totally understand the allure of its slightly more complicated sister. The style has been spotted all over red carpets this year, like Lea Michele’s double-braided ponytail in January or Ciara’s low, messy style at Paris Fashion Week in March.

If you don’t feel like Googling, Stylish actually broke down a foolproof method of achieving your own fishtail (check out the video above!) in December. After pulling your hair into a low side ponytail, cross half-inch strands over each other. Secure your braid with an elastic at the bottom and pull pieces for a relaxed effect.

Other burning hair questions of the year include “How to make hair grow faster,” “What is baylage?” and “How to curl hair.” For the latter, there are a plethora of ways including the (duh) curling iron, the no-heat methods and balloons. Yes, really!
