Gretchen Mol's makeup artist Daniel Martin spilled the details on the star's vampy makeup look for the Boardwalk Empire premiere on Sept 3

Lovely lady in rouge! All eyes were on Boardwalk Empire star Gretchen Mol at the hit HBO show’s season five premiere in New York City on Sept. 3.

The stunning actress hit the carpet in a candy apple red halter dress designed by Vivienne Westwood, which inspired the 41-year-old’s sultry red makeup look.

"My inspiration for Gretchen’s makeup at the Boardwalk Empire premiere was 'modern vamp,'" celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin told Us Weekly. "Her Vivienne Westwood dress and chic high ponytail left room for lots of lashes and a bright, bold pinky-red lip!"

To achieve Mol’s fresh face, Martin thoroughly moisturized her skin prior to applying foundation.

“I prepped Gretchen’s skin using La Mer Moisturizing Lotion and Darphin Ideal Resource Anti Dark Circle Illuminator,” he said.

Next, the beauty expert evened out the actress’ skin tone with YSL Fusion Ink Foundation in shade B30, paired with Laura Mercier’s High Coverage Concealer in #3. He kept oils at bay with KohGenDo Natural Lighting Powder.

And for those perfectly rosy cheeks? “I used Nars Sculpting Powder in Olympia and Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dazzled,” the makeup artist dished.

However, the standout asset of the whole look was Mol’s punchy red pout for which he used a blend of By Terry Lip Balm and Nars Audacious Lipstick in Grace.
