"My inspiration was the navy blue skirt that goes under the dress," makeup artist Carola Gonzalez told Us. To get the look, Gonzalez used Neutrogena Crease Proof Eye Shadow in Forever Platinum layered over Diorshow Fusion Mono 281 Cosmos Eyeshadow, blending it on the crease and along the lower lash line. To further define the eyes, she lined the entire eye with Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Liner in Twilight Blue and finished with black mascara.
"I didn’t want to do the usual smoky eyes and pale lips cliché," celeb makeup artist Matin tells Us. "I wanted her fresh and gorgeous, and nothing dresses up a face better than the perfect shade of red." For the just-right hue, Matin first used Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Rouge Profond and then applied Chanel's Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in La Flamboyante and Rouge Allure Gloss Colour and Shine Lipgloss in Pirate (out in October and November, respectively).
"The dress is so pure and light, so I wanted to add a modern twist," celeb makeup artist Maki Ryoke told Us of the "rock chick" look she created. She first applied the pigmented slate shadows from the Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in The Rock Chick and then created a strong cat eye with Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'N' Kohl Eye Pencil in Bedroom Black. She lined the entire eye, including the waterline, and then enhanced it with Charlotte Tilbury Feline Flick on the lash line.
"My biggest challenge is making sure he looks like Jon Hamm and not Don Draper," Diana Schimidtke told Us. After cleansing and toning (with Revive Balancing Toner), she applied Revive Moisturizing Renewal Cream for a hydrated foundation. To help the beard look polished, she starts with a wet shave under the chin to create clean lines. After trimming stray hairs, she sprays a disposable mascara wand with hairspray and brushes it through.
"For the Emmys, I thought to have soft polished waves to keep the look feeling young, with a nod to Jerry Hall and the '70s," Suave Professionals celeb hairstylist Marcus Francis told Us. He spritzed the brand's Volumizing Root Boost Spray from the roots to the ends before drying with a large round brush. He center-parted the hair and curled small sections. After working his way around her head, Francis let the curls set and brushed them out, adding more volume with dry shampoo.
"Robin is wearing a custom-made Ralph Lauren that has a '40s feel with a '70s flair, so we kept her look along that vein," celeb makeup artist Tricia Sawyer told Us. She enhanced Wright's flawless skin by first applying Orlane Super-Moisturizing Light Cream with a sponge and followed with Absolute Skin Recovery Care Eye Contour. To even the tone, Sawyer used Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and concealer then lightly brushed on Orlane Transparent Loose Powder, concentrating on the T-zone.
"We wanted to go more sultry than sweet, still somehow muted, yet in a very powerful way," celeb makeup artist Mary Phillips for Jouer Cosmetics told Us. She created definition with the brand's Eye Definer in Noir and applied Powder Eyeshadow in Almond all over the lids with the Cappuccino shade in the creases. "I added a touch more bronze with Jouer Mineral Powder Bronzer in Sunshine," she said, adding that Jouer's Tint in Bare and Mineral Powder Blush inBlossom added warmth to her cheeks.
The presenter depended on bronzed shadows to complement her eyes. Chanel celeb makeup artist used metallic brown shades from the Revlon Colorstay 16 Hour Eyeshadow Quad in Adventurous for a smoky eye and then created definition with Revlon Luxurious Color Eyeliner Pencil in Sueded Brown. She finished with Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara in Black.
The Modern Family start swept her long hair into a high topknot, created by celeb hairstylist Ryan Richman. "I never want to be too literal with inspiration so we kept the look soft and natural to keep it modern," he told Us. After blow-drying with a boar bristle round brush, he brushed hair toward the top of the head, spritzing Dove Style+Care Extra Hold Hairspray as he went to smooth flyaways. He secured into a ponytail and back-combed the ends for texture, then twisted and wrapped into a bun.
"I decided to make the focus Lizzy's beautiful eyes, by creating a strong smoky '60s-inspired cat eye with a modern twist," makeup artist Sabrina Bedrani for Dior Beauty tells Us. She used the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in Cuir Cannage and Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow in Hypnotique for the bold look.
Celeb hairstylist Riawna Capri made the most of Hough's grown-out pixie. "After seeing her white dress, I knew her hair had to have perfect balance between edgy and formal," Capri tells Us of the "deep and disheveled" look. After rough-drying her hair, Riawna spritzed KMS California Hairplay Sea Salt Spray all over for texture. Once it air-dried, she curled vertical sections, leaving out the ends, and ran KMS California Hairplay Dry Wax through each section.
"She had a classic midnight long blue gown, so I wanted to do an intense smoky eye using midnight blues mixed with black in the lids," celeb makeup artist Jeannia Robinette told Us. To add even more drama and definition, she used Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner and They're Real Mascara.
The charismatic Modern Family star made the most of her long shiny hair with a frizz-free blowout from celeb hairstylist Kylee Heath. After washing with Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky shampoo, she made a straight center part on damp hair. Then, she blow-dried the top front section, rolled it under, pinning it in place. She repeated on the rest of the hair. When the sections cooled, Heath unpinned, brushed them through and added a slight bend with a curling iron.
"The inspiration was a romantic smoky eye using mauves and metallics," celeb makeup artist and Neutrogena brand ambassador Amy Oresman told Us. She used the brand's Stay-Put Plum on the lid, Forever Platinum in the crease and Stay Golden to highlight under the brows. To define the Nashville star's eyes, Oresman used Nourishing Eyeliner in Cosmic Black and finished with Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black.
