Shoe news! Janet Jackson is getting the custom sneaker treatment for her upcoming world tour, the Unbreakable World Tour, which begins on Aug. 31 in Vancouver, BC.
The 49-year-old artist's most recent tour will be her first in four years, and she’s pulling out all the stops from her head to her feet in custom-made Giuseppe Zanotti sneakers. "I am thrilled to have been asked by Janet to create the shoes for her tour," Zanotti said in a statement. "She has been a great friend for many years, and I have the utmost respect for her as one of the most iconic and outstanding artists and style icons of our time."
The custom kicks are a play off of one of Zanotti's celeb-loved sneakers (that retail for a cool $1,050), but with all new color combos that match the "No Sleeep" singer’s on-stage outfits. For die-hard Jackson (or Zanotti) fans, the special edition shoes will also be available in select stores, starting in the fall.
The songstress' last album, Discipline, was released in 2008 and followed by a collection of greatest hits, but fans have been reaching out to her, begging her to create something new. On May 16, her birthday, Jackson shared an announcement via Twitter that delivered. "I promised you’d hear it from my lips, and now you will," she said in a shared audio recording. "This year: new music; new world tour; a new movement." Plus now? New shoes!
